Spring catchup - finally (Part 1 - March)

Here on the first day of summer I will try to play a lot of catchup.  Chaos has ruled the day/week/months.  It has been through some extra effort I've tried to get out there and not let the Chaos rule every day.  It was a very good migration for myself and the County, topped off by a first county record in the past week.  

Since my last update I've found 118 FOY birds within Calhoun county, quicker pace for the year 2 months in a row, 2 new monthly high numbers and 2 new Big Day in a month highs (including a milestone I thought might be possible).  

For the rest of March some highlights:

• D DR S Flooded field I glassed some Sandhill Cranes and spotted  raptor far in the distance behind them.  As I continued to focus on this bird it turned out to be a juvenile Golden Eagle.  
• My best looks yet at American Woodcock at Brooks Nature Area.  This would be my go-to spot for them when I search them out again. 
• Code 5 Long-tailed Duck at Duck Lake WTP on 3/24, found by Dr. Dale Kennedy on 3/19.  This bird stayed at this location until at least 5/5.  
• Early Common Loon on Ackley Lake, found by Dr. Dale Kennedy, gave great looks.  
• First for me, an Oregon Dark-eyed Junco was at my feeder on 3/31.  Come on split!!
